Courtney A. Grimsrud
Courtney is a director in Abbot Downing’s Minneapolis office where she is responsible for the management of client relationships. Courtney leads the team of wealth management specialists to serve the financial needs of families and non-profit organizations, including asset management, wealth planning, family dynamics, banking, and fiduciary services.
Prior to joining Abbot Downing, Courtney practiced law for twelve years, most recently at Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis. Her practice focused on all aspects of estate and tax planning, including wealth transfer tax planning, estate and trust administration, international estate planning, estate and trust dispute resolution, business succession planning, and charitable giving. Previously, Courtney practiced law at two estate planning boutiques in Chicago and Wayzata, Minnesota.
Courtney received her LL.M. in Taxation with honors from Northwestern University School of Law, a juris doctor degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, and a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in political science from Purdue University.
Courtney is on the board of directors of the Minnesota Mothers Attorney Association and currently serves as its Vice President. She is also a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Legislation Committee. Courtney is a SAFE-registered mortgage loan originator (NMLSR ID 1450059).
Courtney lives in St. Paul, Minnesota, with her husband, Dan, and their three children, John, Maggie, and Teddy.
