Janet Walker is a vice president and portfolio manager in Abbot Downing’s San Francisco office. She is responsible for the management of ultra-high-net-worth relationships for Abbot Downing client families. Janet has over 17 years of experience in the investment business.
Prior to Abbot Downing, Janet was a senior investment analyst with Wells Fargo Family Wealth. She came to Family Wealth in 2007 from Wells Fargo Private Bank where she was an investment manager. During her time at The Private Bank, she launched coverage of the biotechnology industry for the Wells Research Group in addition to managing complex portfolios for high-net-worth clients.
Janet is a contributing member of Abbot Downing’s Equity Research Team and Advisory Council. In addition, she is chair of Abbot Downing’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the western region.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 1999, Janet spent many years as a research scientist, earning numerous scholarships and grants in the field of molecular biology.
Janet earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular biology with a minor in chemistry from San Francisco State University. Additionally, she is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.
Janet enjoys the arts and is an educator, teaching financial literacy to children and young adults through a variety of organizations across the bay area.
Janet is raising her two children at her home in Oakland, California.
