Foundations and Endowments
Keith Baum is the managing director of the Foundations and Endowments group. Keith and his team work closely with Abbot Downing regional teams to deliver an institutional-quality investment platform, along with best-in-class philanthropic and administrative services. Keith has nearly 30 years of experience in the investment industry.
From 1986 to 1998, Keith was employed by Goldman Sachs. While at Goldman, Keith handled institutional sales of U.S. equities in Tokyo from 1987 to 1993, eventually becoming the manager of the desk. He then moved to Hong Kong and later became Director of Asia Research for Goldman Sachs. There, he hired and mentored analysts, serviced institutional clients, and managed budgeting, compensation, product development and compliance.
Upon relocating to the U.S., Keith spent five years analyzing and investing in non-public companies. He first became a special limited partner at Valley Ventures in Scottsdale, Arizona. He later became vice president of Pivotal Private Equity, a Phoenix-based private equity investment company.
In 2004, Keith became an investment principal at Abbot Downing’s predecessor company, Lowry Hill, where he managed client relationships and was a member of the firm’s investment strategy, income equity, value equity and international equity teams.
Keith received his master’s degree in business administration from Stanford University and his bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College. He spent his junior year of college at Waseda University in Tokyo. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, a member of the CFA Institute and has served on the board of trustees of Kalamazoo College and the Scottsdale Cultural Council. Keith is a Life Trustee of the Interlochen Center for the Arts.
