Regional Managing Director
As a regional managing director at Abbot Downing, Paul Cummings manages the firm's Northeast business. He oversees strategy and client management as well as preparing team members and leaders in his region.
Prior to joining Abbot Downing, Paul was managing director at Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for managed solution delivery as well as strategic planning and execution for the U.S. Trust, Institutional, International and Merrill Edge channels. Previously at Bank of America and Merrill Lynch, he held various senior leadership positions, including head of the Institutional Investments Group and head of Investments for the Greater Tri-State Region of the Private Bank. Paul was a member of the U.S. Trust Investment Strategy and Global Wealth and Investment Management Investment Oversight Committees. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2006, he worked more than 15 years at The Bank of New York, where he ultimately became a managing director and Head of the Advisor Wealth Services Group, which included Family Wealth Services, Financial Planning and Investment Consulting. Paul also served as a member of the Investment Committee of the BNY Partners Funds and a director of BNY Private Investment Management Inc.
Paul received a bachelor’s degree in history from St. Lawrence University.
Currently, Paul is a Board Member of The Historical Society of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is a member of the Strategic Finance and Golf Committees for Arcola Country Club.
Paul has served as a member of the Investment Company Institute’s Research Committee. He is an active supporter of United Way and involved with several community organizations.
Paul lives in New Jersey with his wife and three children.
