Rob Farrington is a director of Asset Management at Abbot Downing. He is responsible for providing clients with strategic, long-term investment guidance through Abbot Downing’s disciplined, comprehensive, and objective investment planning process. Rob has more than 12 years of experience in the investment management industry.
Prior to Abbot Downing, Rob was a managing director at Commonfund, where he was responsible for portfolio management, asset allocation, investment policy development, risk and liquidity management for foundation and endowment clients. He was also responsible for helping develop Commonfund's expansion into Japan where the firm established one of the first investment programs designed specifically for Japanese universities. Rob was the author of the Commonfund’s Quarterly Macro Commentary, a publication that was widely distributed to the company’s clients, which highlighted the developments within the macro economy and capital markets as well as outlining the firm’s outlook and investment point of view.
Prior to Commonfund, Rob was a consultant at Evaluation Associates. He focused on manager due diligence, rebalancing recommendations, asset allocation review, and investment committee governance. Rob was also responsible for running EAI’s growing wealth management practice.
Rob earned his master’s degree in business administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Bates College. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Rob is on the Board of the Stamford CFA Society.
Rob lives in Weston, Connecticut with his wife, Donna, and his children, Joey and Dominique.
