Senior Director, Eastern U.S. Markets
Robert Maund is senior director of Eastern U.S. markets at Abbot Downing with primary responsibility for the firm’s new business development efforts in the Eastern United States.
A CFP® professional with over 28 years’ experience in the financial services industry, Robert began his career with First Union National Bank, where he served in leadership roles in consumer banking, commercial banking, and the investment management and trust services business. Following roles with Sunbelt Capital as executive vice president and Centura Bank (now PNC Bank) as managing director of the Private Client Group, Robert returned to Wachovia Bank (following its merger with First Union) in 2004 to establish the National Office of Wachovia Wealth Management. As managing director, Robert established a new partnership with Wachovia’s corporate and investment banking teams, and led a team of advisors providing financial advice to business owners and corporate executives across the U.S.
Following Wachovia’s merger with Wells Fargo in 2009, Robert assisted in the integration of three separate businesses to form Abbot Downing, Wells Fargo’s private wealth management practice designed to serve ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, family offices, endowments, and foundations. In addition to his current role with Abbot Downing, Robert continues to serve in a leadership role for the cross-sell partnership between wealth management and investment banking.
Robert earned a bachelor's degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
Robert resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife and three children.
