Steve Kenney is a director of Asset Management in Abbot Downing’s Chicago office. He is responsible for providing investment management solutions including equities, fixed income and complementary strategies for clients of Abbot Downing. Steve has over 23 years of experience in the investment management industry.
Prior to joining Abbot Downing, Steve was an executive director for J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank. In this role, he worked with clients in both a discretionary and non-discretionary basis delivering guidance to investment policy statements as well as individual portfolio construction. Clientele consisted of business owners, corporate executives, multi-generational families, foundations and endowments. Core portfolios were constructed with a multi-asset class view including traditional equities, fixed income, hedge funds and private capital. As well as working with clients, he led the investment team and was a part of regional leadership.
He also previously was an institutional fixed income salesperson for J.P. Morgan Securities and its predecessor banks. As a generalist fixed income salesperson, his client base consisted of corporations, banks, insurance companies, governmental entities, money managers and high net worth individuals.
Steve earned his master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University, graduating with distinction. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Iowa State University. Steve is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a member of the CFA Institute, and a member of CFA Society of Chicago.
Steve serves on the Board of Advisors for The Morton Arboretum, the Strategic Committee of St. Petronille Catholic Church and coaches youth sports.
Steve and his wife, Jill, reside in the western suburbs of Chicago with their two children, Liam and Kyla.
