William E. Lauer
Bill is a director of Asset Management for the Southeast region, located in the Winston-Salem office. He is responsible for the management of ultra-high-net-worth relationships for Abbot Downing client families. Bill has over thirty-five years of experience in the investment business.
Bill’s career began at Shearson Management, a subsidiary of Shearson Lehman Brothers, where he was a senior vice president managing discretionary equity accounts. Since that time, he has worked for several large bank trust departments as a senior portfolio manager, handling investments for large sensitive family relationships and managing various units. Most recently, Bill was the Chief Investment Officer at Chevy Chase Trust in Bethesda, Maryland.
Bill earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University in New York, New York.
Bill holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.
